Nature & Texture Inspire Countertops

While bold colors are beginning to make greater inroads in the kitchen, cool whites and nature-inspired neutrals continue to dominate when it comes to countertop options.

Texture is hot, driven in part by a growing interest in the industrial look, while marble looks remain all the rage for their clean appeal. Mixing and matching of surfaces is still on point as consumers seek to personalize their spaces.

Below are some of the hottest trends in countertops right now.

–Soft, neutral tones continue to dominate kitchen countertops, with greys, whites, beiges and greiges, along with some earthy soft browns and light greyish blues in the mix.

–Engineered quartz, prized for its durability and myriad color and pattern options, is increasingly being designed to look like slabs of granite or marble, often with dramatic waterfall edges

–White kitchens never go out of style, and as such, marble and marble looks continue to be hot for their clean appearance and subtle veining.

–The growing interest in all things nature-inspired is driving interest in more natural honed surfaces that offer a raw, earthy look. The industrial trend is also shaping this demand, with increased interest in cement, metal and other surfaces that contribute to the hip, edgy feeling.

–Matte surfaces continue to trend, while interest in textured or tactile countertop materials has increased demand for leathered surfaces or other textural finishes that offer added touch appeal.

–The mix-and-match surfacing trend remains strong, with designers combining materials – from quartz, laminate, marble and concrete to wood, glass and metal –  to achieve clients’ budget goals, offer different work surfaces or just create uniquely customized looks.
